I am not a Wisconsin fan, but I wish Barry Alvarez well now that he’s almost out of coaching. Alvarez performed for Wisconsin what Haden Fry did for Iowa and you have to respect the program that he leaves behind.
When Alvarez arrived in Madison in 1990, Wisconsin had compiled a 9-36 record during the previous four seasons and attendance at Camp Randall Stadium had dipped to an average of 41,734 per game (54 percent of capacity).
Under Alvarez’s guidance, the program became a perennial top half Big 10 team and won the conference and the Rose Bowl three times. If he got there, he won and he did it with class. Good luck to you, sir.
