Coppermine upgrade

Coppermine, which I installed all of two weeks ago, was found to have a nasty remote execution exploit. Lunarpages, my hosting company, politely asked that I upgrade, informed me that their going rate is $75/hour, and removed the software package from their fantastico distribution. No upgrade through them without paying some cash. I suppose that you can’t expect the world for eight bucks a month.

So, since my hosting plan does not include shell access, I was forced to use FTP. Nothing like FTP for moving a couple hundred meg around a couple times. It’s the GREATEST or something. So the process wasn’t as seamless as I would have preferred, but it wasn’t the worst thing in the world either. I suppose I shouldn’t bag on Lunarpages all that much. They are reasonably priced. They do have reasonable uptime, and I’ve had an account there for multiple years. If that truly sucked, I would have moved long ago.
