Fast is the new slow…

Somehow, since our return from Texas, I have lost touch with my ability to run slow and disciplined. When I run these days, I feel like I’m running slow. My legs feel tired and sluggish resulting in perceived effort levels which feel hard. I feel like I’m struggling, running slow, and my legs never recover fully.

The results? Tonight, I ran ~9.3 miles in 72 minutes. So, what gives? That’s a little fast for my training miles. I’m going to have to reduce my HR limits to force myself to slow down. Sheesh!

In other news…

This month’s racing plan includes the Earth Day Half Marathon in St. Cloud and Get In Gear here in Minneapolis. I’ve always been rained on at Earth Day, and I’ve been in everything from snow to seventy degrees for Get in Gear. Last but not least, there’s the Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride which I may get roped into also. Although that’s the day after Get In Gear, so time will tell.
