What does popularity mean?

I have installed a couple new plugins. The first is a Google Sitemaps plugin by Arne Brachhold, which is very uninteresting to the typical reader but valuable to Google. You can see the sitemap results if you are interested. The idea is to provide some additional context around Google’s indexing of the site. Additionally, I suppose the result could be transformed into something useful for a typical web user. We’ll have to see how that shakes out.

Second, I have installed the Popularity Contest plugin by Alix King. Simply put, it tracks the number of reads and allows articles to be ranked against each other. The percentages are values relative to the ‘most popular’ article on the site. In order to make these things work together, I had to change the plugin similar to Semicolon’s modified version.

I’ll add the “most popular” section to the sidebar soon.
