You picked a fine time…

I rode a seldom used mountain bike to work on Monday. I think I rode it once or twice last year but none this year. It’s an old Giant Iguana. It’s bomb proof. Nothing could wreck this bike except a thief. Unfortunately, there was one of those around on Monday and the bastard ran off with my rear wheel.

I’ll spare everyone the emotional crap that I was going to post about the event. Suffice it to say that I was not happy. I bought a used wheel from One on One, but it’s junk — literally not figuratively. Another disappointment in a very long day. I’m not sure if I’ll be returning to that shop.

So, the new wheels that I had been talking about purchasing will now be 26×1.5 hoops rather then some fancy reduced spoke count high speed road items. Perhaps it’s best in the long run. Fates way of telling me to not even bother. The whole experience is just rather sad.

In other news…

My internet works again. The best thing to happen on Monday. So, I’ve got that going for me.

  1. [...] I’ve been riding the 2003 Bianchi Pista around rather then the Nishiki. It has the factory default 48×16 setup which is taller then the 44×16 setup on the Nishiki. Riding the pista is great for the legs and bad for the knees. I have to get the Nishiki into the shop for it’s spring checkup and flip the wheel over for some single speed action. Once I get the Nishiki back, in goes the Giro, then the Giant. It’s a never ending stream of bike shop maintenance. Now I just need to get people to stop stealing my wheels and life will be good.
