The tri-plan…

Tomorrow is the 3rd of July and that means only one thing. My first triathlon is only days away — less then a week. It’s a rookie event down in Elysian, MN. It’s really short, perhaps even for a sprint event, however, it’s 600M of swimming. As some of you know, I’ve been taking swimming lessons for the last couple of weeks and it seems that things might be coming together.

Tonight, for the first time, I was paying attention to distance. I swam 800M in the pool. While I have not swam 600M consecutively, there are times with my current understanding that swimming becomes much easier then at other times. My intention is to swim 800M to 1000M daily until the race in the hope of finding a kind of sustainable technique even if it has warts. Technique, while important, is becoming secondary to endurance and distance capacity due to the proximity of the event. I’ve got to find a way to make a reasonable effort to not drown, after that everything is gravy.

I know that my swimming is better then it has ever been. The question is: is it good enough?
