I’m convinced that we are watching history…

Oh BOY! Here we are; uncharted waters. I’ve avoided writing about the tour until today, but I simply can’t restrain myself anymore. This is history! (and it has nothing to do with some guy named Armstrong!) Greg LeMonde once made cycling history by winning the Tour on the last day in a time trial; that is also the last time that there was a time trial on the last day. Now, things are totally different.

There are three riders within 30(ish) seconds of the GC leader as we arrive at the last time trial of the race. After the time trial, there’s one more flat stage, then the stage into the Champs. After the time trial, the top three riders should still be close’; potentially within 10 seconds or so. Suddenly, every crappy 3 second sprint bonus is important for the general classification. What do you think is going to happen?

My prediction is the stage time bonus on the finish line on the Champs will decide the overall winner of the tour. It’s going to be that close and if you don’t witness this Tour, it will be like missing the Apollo missions or the Kennedy assignation. It’s that important and it may never happen again…
