Tuesday, for some inexplicable reason, I signed up for next years Lifetime Triathlon — the olympic distance. The lengths are 1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run. 1500 meters of swimming in Lake Nokomis should provide enough motivation to make anyone want to get out of the water just as soon as possible.
I suppose the bright side of having registered for an event that’s approximately ten months away is you have ample time to prepare. Open water swimming is still going to be my nemesis if I don’t get to do a bunch of it before the end of this season, and I suppose this puts me back onto the idea of needing a TT bike again. Another good thing which should emerge is a representative 40K time trial effort. Anything should be better then the single effort I have at that distance this year.
This season, since I was training for Miami in January, I neglected to sign up for races that I was interested in before they closed — and they closed fast. Next season, I want to have more sprint events and more then one olympic distance or perhaps a half ironman distance event. The race calendar should be ready to go by late December or early January. No excuses.
